Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai launched an unique campaign of collecting sacred mud and water from lakes, ponds, rivers, kalyanis, pushkarinis and streams from all villages in the state, after the grand unveiling of 108 feet gigantic statue of ‘Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’ at Kempegowda International Airport.
He performed ‘bhumi pooja’ for the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Theme park that was organised on the airport premises. Bommai said Kempegowda statue was being installed on the premises of Vidhana Soudha,estimated cost of Rs.50 crore, and Kempegowda another state will also come up in Lalbagh. The statue will be named as ‘Statue of Prosperity’, he said.
Minister and vice president of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda heritage Sites Development Authority Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayana said before the unveiling, a 45 day state level abhiyan was launched and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the statue on 1st November.
Nadaprabhu Hiriya Kempegowda was a chieftain under the Vijayanagar empire. History credits him with being just and humane ruler. Bengaluru City, which is the capital of Karnataka,was fortified by Kempegowda in 1537, who erected many Kannada inscriptions in the region.
