The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the Gram Sabha meeting will be held in all 12,525 Gram Panchayats in Tamil Nadu on October 2. For the welfare of Tamil Nadu farmers, the Government of Tamil Nadu has filed a separate financial statement for Agriculture in the last year 2021-22, introduced various types of strategies and announced and implemented welfare schemes.

Three Vision Plans

The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced a visionary plan to increase the net cultivated area in Tamil Nadu from 60 percent to 75 percent, to double the area under cultivation and to bring Tamil Nadu into the top three all-India levels of productivity of major agricultural crops.

Major schemes of Agriculture- Farmers Welfare Department

In order to fulfill the visionary plans of the government, the government has been announcing and implementing various farmer welfare schemes. In particular, the All Village Integrated Agricultural Development Program of the artist to create overall development in the villages, the Chief Minister’s rainfed land development program to generate more income in rainfed agriculture, the small grain movement, the Chief Minister’s Nutrient Vegetable Garden, the plan to increase the cultivated area of horticultural crops, agricultural mechanization to carry out the agricultural work on time, the machinery of the department to facilitate E-Rental app launched for use, solar powered pumpset installation project, strengthening farmers market scheme to benefit farmers and public, bringing together small and marginal farmers to carry out commercial agriculture activities, farmer producer organizations, training rural youth on new techniques, creating entrepreneurs in agriculture, The Department of Agriculture-Farmers Welfare is implementing various welfare schemes like creating opportunities for increasing export of agricultural produce.

Role of Agriculture Department in Gram Sabha meeting on 2nd October

The Tamil Nadu government has announced that the Gram Sabha meeting will be held in all 12,525 Gram Panchayats in Tamil Nadu on October 2nd. In this meeting, separate officers will be appointed for each gram panchayat on behalf of Agriculture-Farmer Welfare Department and the farmers will be briefed about the schemes of the department. Also, Advertisement banners will be put up and pamphlets will be distributed to the farmers to explain the details of key technologies and government schemes.

In the current year, details of the farmers who have benefited from the schemes implemented by various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Sales and Agribusiness, Sugar Department will be prepared village wise and will be made available to the public in the village council meeting. Therefore, all the farmers are kindly requested to participate and benefit from the Gram Sabha meeting on 2nd October.
