The state government is ready to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in pre primary stage in 20,000 anganwadis/schools from this November across Karnataka.
Mr B. C. Nagesh, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education and Mr. Halappa Achar, Minister for Women and Child Development, jointly declared this at a press conference.
Mr. Nagesh explained,the government has already taken steps to fulfill NEP in the pre primary stage in selected anganwadis all over the state from November. He further said every child should be given high standard education.
As per NEP 2020,six committees are constituted to supervise the syllabus ground work for early childhood care and education which includes schedule design, teaching, learning materials and evaluation.
The final curriculum framework is expected by the Central Education Department this September, after that the state schedule framework will be finalised. According to the framework, necessary training will be given to the anganwadi workers. Three types of training are aimed at anganwadi workers according to their qualification.
Mr. Achar said nutritious food, health care education are being provided at anganwadis. Programmes like kali-nali and chilipili are already existing, will be the part of NEP and this will be further enhanced and effectively implemented through NEP 2020.
