Coffee Board of India a body which represents coffee growers and coffee industry in the country has decided to expand coffee flavour by launching four premium coffees under the ‘India Coffee’ brand and two more affordable coffees under the ‘Coffees of India’ brand on Amazon, India’s largest online store explained K.G. Jagadeesh, IAS, CEO and Secretary, Coffee Board.
“Those premium coffees are, Coorg Arabica Coffee (GI), Chikmagalur Arabica Coffee (GI), 100% Arabica Coffee and a blend of Arabica and Robusta under the ‘India Coffee’ brand” – he said.
Dr. Jagadeesh added, coffee board’s collaboration with Amazon is expected to boost domestic coffee consumption. Coffees are sourced from the best coffee estates to suit the taste of millions of coffee gourmets all over the country.
The Coffee Board was in the process of strengthening the domestic appeal for pure coffee all over the country as international price instability challenge prevails – Coffee Board CEO further said.
According to Nishant Raman, Director-IN Consumables, Amazon India, Coffee consumption in the country is on the hike. Through this association customer will get a premium range of coffees on Amazon in, which are sourced from the best coffee producing regions. He added “This is in line with our endeavour to offer flavours of Indian coffee at value offers to our customers”.
India exports 70% of it’s coffee overseas as the seventh largest coffee producer in the world. According to the Coffee Board India it has created a slot for itself with seven GI – registered coffees which are offered globally.
