Rain pounded several parts of Bengaluru causing damage to inundating homes and day today life. Rains and floods triggered small and big internet downtime, doctors have warned that there is high possibility of out break of diseases and rise in cases of viral and respiratory ailments in the aftermath of rains.
Many schools switched to online classes. In several cases, roads were waterlogged and remained inaccessible to the students, many schools have declared holiday and some shifted to online classes for the next one week.
Sumps constructed for collection of groundwater overflowed in the basement of High Court of Karnataka due to excess inflow of groundwater, resulting in partial inundation of the basement following heavy rains.
Due to inundation, office and college goers from the locality were forced to use the tractors to take them to the nearest bus stop. Many flood affected residents left their homes to seek shelter in hotels, relatives and friends house or service apartments. In the way of crisis, hotel and lodges have reduced room charges for those seeking refuge. Some have also chosen to leave the city and temporarily shift to nearby towns, while others have returned to their home towns in different states until the situation stabilizes.
