Although the intensity of rainfall is not much, the aftermath of the heavy rain continued to trouble the residents of Bengaluru. Inundated roads, apartments, JCB’s clearing encroachments, cleaning up lakes and tractors carrying people were a common sight in Bengaluru.
The migrant workers colony, the slums have been severely affected in the recent rainfall. After four days migrant labour colony and the slum areas were still flooded. There are no means for people to prepare food or a good sleep with water everywhere. Those who live in hundreds of tents alleged that they had received no help from the BBMP.
As the IT corridor was devastated by heavy rains over the last few days and firms along the Outer ring road threatened to leave the city, IT-BT and Higher Education Minister C. N. Ashwath Narayan chaired a high level meeting with leaders of the industry and assured them of finding a permanent solution to the problems before the next monsoon.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the State Government has prepared a memorandum on rain damage estimate meticulously and transparently and the Centre must be recommended to release a fair compensation to Karnataka as per the guidelines.
