There are more power loom sectors functioning around the Tirupur and Coimbatore districts in Tamil Nadu. Peoples around that areas are adopting their life for the power loom sectors. But now a days the electricity charges would be hiked by the government of Tamil Nadu. So the owners will be closed their unit nearby future. So the labourers are decided to strike against the increased the electricity charges at their companies. In Tirupur district power loom industry is taking place next to agriculture. Many farmers are buying cloth from textile manufacturers and weaving it for wages for alternative income.

In this case, electricity charges have been increased by 30 percent for Sada power looms. And an increase of 6 percent per annum has been announced. Power loom owners in Mangalam, Avinashi, Thekkalur, Samalapuram and Coimbatore districts of Tirupur district have stopped their power looms demanding that the Tamil Nadu government immediately cancel the power tariff hike as the power loom owners who weave for wages are unable to pay this rate hike in any way. They are engaged in an indefinite strike. Production of 1 crore meters of cloth per day has been affected due to the strike. Directly and indirectly, 5 lakh workers lost their jobs and their livelihoods were affected.

It is noteworthy that the power looms are on strike for the third time this year alone. Following this, the waste cotton spinning mills and textile manufacturers are also going on strike from tomorrow, causing production damage and loss of labor worth several crores of rupees.

The Tamil Nadu government take require action immediately to decrease the electricity tariff for the small scale industries. For this hike the poor peoples are affected their daily wages and loss of their life. So this case can take seriously and get the justification results.
