China has a climate dominated by dry season and wet monsoons, which make for clear temperature differences in winter and summer. In winter, northern winds coming from high latitude areas are cold and dry, in summer, southern winds from sea areas at lower latitudes are warm and moist.
China has lodged its hottest August since record began. Southern China last month sheltered under, may have been one of the worst heat waves in global history.
The average temperature nation wide was 22.4C in August. Some 267 weather stations all over the country broke temperature records last month.
It was China’s third driest August on record, with average rainfall 23.1% which was lower than average. The average number of high temperature days was abnormally high.
Scientists say extreme weather like heat waves and droughts is becoming more common due to human induced climate change.
In August, temperature as high as 45C prompted multiple chinese provinces to impose power cuts as cities battled to cope with a surge in demand of electricity.
