According to United Nations half of the world’s health care facilities lack basic hygiene services putting four billion people at higher risk of infection.
These facilities do not have water and soap or alcohol based hand wash/rub in their wash/rest rooms and health care centers according to World Health Organization.
Around 3.85 billion people use these facilities, putting them at a greater risk of infection, including people who receive care at facilities with no hygiene services at all.
“Hygiene facilities and practices in health care settings are non-negotiable,” said the WHO’s Maria Neira.
“Their improvement is essential to pandemic recovery, prevention and preparedness. Hygiene in health care facilities cannot be secured without increasing investments in baic infrastructure which include pure water,clean wash/rest rooms and safely managed health care waste.
