A person’s sleep quality is affected for so many different reasons. One reason might be that you slept just after eating a large meal. The digestion process continues while you’re sleeping. It might be possible that your sleep quality gets affected because your body spends more energy digesting the food leading to less sleep. Another reason behind your lack of sleep at night is you get indigestion. However, it depends on your food type, quantity, and metabolism.
3. Vivid dreams or nightmares become more common

There are so many theories behind having vivid dreams. If you are seeing dreams which wake up suddenly. It can be because of the food you eat before going to bed.
Since your late-night eating leads activate your metabolism, your brain becomes more active than usual. And when you enter a rapid eye movement sleep (the sleep stage where you will have most of the involved dreams). So, as mentioned earlier, if you notice some vivid dreams at night, you should try to reschedule your eating time.
4. You’ll wake up more at night

In most people, an increased need to pee at night becomes more frequent, called nocturia. The reason is related to the presence of caffeine in the food you eat at night. This means the food you eat could make you pee more at night. However, many people need to be aware of the reasons behind waking up more at night.
5. You might gain weight

When you have meals late, immediately go to bed without giving your proper time to your body to burn off calories from the food you eat. You might gain weight as you are simply lying on your bed. What can be done instead is to try to avoid eating before bed or stay awake for a while before going to bed. This way, you can easily prevent adding unnecessary pounds to your body.
