The Karnataka State Health Department has taken up steps in establishing paperless e-hospitals under 2017 National Health Mission. The establishment of this digital facility has been taken up in 2 stages. First stage has reached almost the stage of completion in 47 state hospitals among 20 districts and 24 taluks.
The tender for the second stage work worth of 55 crores has been issued for establishing e- hospitals in 122 taluks.
Under the e-hospital scheme the data pertaining to the treatment given to the patients in the hospitals is recorded digitally. Every doctor in the hospital is given unique code and the doctor is to log in using his ID and treat his patient and he has to enter all the details of the treatment given. This would help to know the lapses if any in case of treatment failures.
The patient coming to the hospital need not stand in the queue,once this scheme is implemented. The patient can make use of chit having the bar code and consult his doctor.
Under this scheme the patient will receive a message to his cell phone regarding his laboratory report, tele medicine and online consultation with the medical officer. Patient can even have prior online appointment with the doctor he wants to consult and visit the hospital on time for consultation. The details such as the medicine prescribed, the diagnosis of the diseases, the treatment given, available medicine,the name of the doctor who treated, laboratory and x-ray reports, the details of the pharmacist and technicians are all recorded digitally and they are available to the patients permanentally.
