As kids we all knew and heard of vikram betal stories. The hero of that story, legendary Vikramadiya is the topic of controversy today. According to Hindu Itihasa and Purana, Vikaramaditya is the king of ujjain who pushed shakas (Greeks) out of India, and during his reign he conquered whole world (known to that day excluding the American continents) and ruled peacefully with his brother Bhatti as his prime minister for a period of 100 years.
Hindu Panchang which is based on the day of emperor Vikramaditya’s coronation day which is April 14th of 57 BCE according to Gregorian calendar which is 57 year ahead of Gregorian calendar.
Until last year, by the claims of past historians he was considered as mythical hero and vikramaditya is a common title used by hindu emperors accross the nation. But a serious devlopment happened, a gold coin was found in Saudi, which was written in Vedic Sanskrit and claiming victory over Rome by the king of world and said that this victory is not his but the victory of people of Malwa or the people of ujjain, and dramatically carbon dating matches with the timeline of Hindu Panchang.
This development made the right wing and left wing intellects , to quarrel over the existence of the king vikramaditya. Right wing intellects are saying that he is true and archeological and historical proofs about his existence are tampered by British and other colonial powers.
While the left is saying that’s bullshit, on those days every king used to call himself emperor of the world, and vikramaditya is a common title so this coin belongs to chandragupta 2nd of Gupta dynasty or of the lalitaditya muktapeeda of karkota dynasty.
To solve this intellectual rift, the government of India should take initiative and start excavation over the tens and thousands of un identified historical settlements all over the country.
Even if the probability is very low, what if he is true?
