Union Minister for Shipping, Water Transport and Ayush Sarbananda Sona laid the foundation stone for new projects worth Rs 228 crore, including the establishment of a 100 crore Economic Development Zone at Tuticorin V. O. Chidambaranar Port. He also launched projects such as improved coal depot road at Tuticorin port, 100 percent LED conversion project, new 6 electric car services, IT connectivity development.
The Union Minister also launched projects including development of electric transport project, 140 kilowatt solar power project, 140 metric ton electronic weighing platform, shipping software, oxygen plant integrated medicine and AYUSH unit, scanner to check 100 cargo vault vehicles in an hour. Tamil Nadu is playing an important role in various developments in India. Tamil Nadu is doing well in industry, science and culture. So everyone should be proud to live in Tamil Nadu. In addition to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking steps in such a way that he does not affect the environment while implementing the development programs of the country. Based on that, the foundation stone for various development projects has been laid at Tuticorin V.C. Port.
He informed that these works will be implemented as a pollution-free green port and green shipping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the air. The Union Minister also expressed hope that it will act as a special green port and cargo handling port in India. There is no harming for anyone by making this projects in Tuticorin.
