There is no question of any discrimination in removal of construction of Rajakaluve in Bangalore City. This is revealed by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday while addressing the reporters and the Secretariat. He said eviction notices have been served on those who had put up buildings or houses on Rajakaluve.
As per the experts recent flooding in the city due to illegal construction on Rajakaluve which blocked the flow of water into drains. Mr. Bommai said the recent floods affected not only IT BT companies and workers but also common people. Houses in low lying areas too faced problems. The work of clearing off all the encroachment would be completed.
Responding to a query Mr. Bommai said the Government has sought directions from the Court in many cases.Courts would be apprised of the situation. Several directions are issued in connection with flood related cases in the past. This time the encroachment should be removed on a big scale.
Bangalore East Tahsildar has also issued notices to 13 residents of luxury Rainbow Drive gated community in the city which was flooded after recent heavy rain because of alleged encroachment of a storm water drain.
The authorities alleged that the residents’s properties block major areas of the culvert, making the layout prone to flooding during the rain.
BBMP Commissioner, Tushar Girinath said “we have given detailed instructions to all eight zones to clear the encroachment on the lake based and SWD’s and to take action”.
